International ski mountaineering will return
to the snows of Piancavallo-Alpago on the first weekend of March. After the World Championships held in 2017 in Piancavallo and Alpago, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia confirm their partnership by organizing the ISMF Master World Championships.

The races that will award the Master world titles will be held on 4 and 6 March. The first race scheduled will be the Vertical Race on Friday 4 March, the athletes will compete along the same route of 2017, starting from Piancavallo and arriving at Rifugio Val dei Sas with 580 meters of positive height gain and with 3400 meters of development. The record time to beat is 24'06" set by Killian Jornet. For women's the best performance is of the Austrian Andrea Mayr who stopped the clock at 28'45''.
On Sunday, 6 March, the Individual Race will take place, covering part of the Transcavallo route in the snows on the border between Friuli and Veneto. The route features highly spectacular parts such as the ascent to Tremol in the first part of the race and the ascent to the Cornor pyramid, which will be "conquered" from the east. The competitors will have to deal with 1800 metres of positive height difference spread over 14 kilometres. On the website you can find all the information and contacts for hospitality. To organize the event is Transcavallo Committee, with the help of the Alpine Rescue Friuli and Veneto, moreover the World Master is supported by Promoturismo FVG, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the Veneto Region.
